Week 10 Photo Editing

How many times have you scrolled down your news feed and noticed a well taken picture? I know i have! Most people take these photos with just their smartphone and a free app. When it comes to posting pictures on any social media site, it's all about the quality of the photo.

Firsts things first you have to start with a nice photo. By this i mean no amount of editing will fix a photo that was well taken in the first place. All you need for this is a smartphone and learning some key tips. These tips you can read by following the following link Phone Photography 101: How to Take Good Pictures With Your Phone.

The next step is something that you are used to and that is uploading the picture to Instagram. Just in case you are not familiar with this you would open the app, click the plus icon at the bottom of the page, it's usually in the center. After clicking the bottom the app is going to pull up the photos that you have in your camera roll. The picture that you just took should be the first one on the list. All yo have to do is select the photo and click next.

Pro Tip: Instagram by default will crop your photograph into a square shaped image. If you want to change that all you have to do is click the expand icon which looks like two outward facing arrows located at the bottom left corner of the image itself.

Now lets move on to the fun part.

Usually you can click every single filter they offer until you stumble upon one that you like.  Filters are what set the mood for your photograph. My suggestion would be once you have found the filters that you like you can rearrange them so that they can be located in the begin of the list so whenever you need them you don't have to scroll through all the given filters. To do this you can go to manage at the end of the filter list. To reorder the list you simply hold your finger down on the three grey lines on the far right of the filter you'd like to move, the drag it to the position you want.

After selecting the filter you like we can actually edit the filter some more. On the bottom right hand corner of the filter screen there is a button that reads edit. This button allows you to adjust the brightness, contrast, structure, warmth, saturation, color, fade, highlights, shadows, and more.

Once you have adjust the filter to match what you want you are ready to upload. One can post the picture immediately or you can save it for later. If you want to get more like in the photo all you have to do is hash tag something relevant to the image.
