Week 9 Social Listening

Having a social media account means that you put things on your page and another is to listen to what other people have to say about it. This allows you to see the amount of likes or conversations that were brought up because of the initial post. Like mentioned before this allows a company or an employer see what people think about their products and or company itself. Being responsible for the social media page of a company/employer means that you are the eyes and ears of that said company.

Social listening tracks conversations through specific words, phrases, and even brands.

In a previous blog i posted on how and what Hootsuite was. Hootsuite provides users with a place to monitor their social media pages. On the Hootuite page you are allowed to see he news feed of certain social media accounts like twitter. Since I have talked about it before lets take a look to see the different ways that you can put it into use.

One of the biggest benefits is sentiment analysis. Sentiment analysis is the process of computationally identifying opinions in a text, especially to determine the writers attitude towards the topic. With social listening you start to notice not only the bad but the impact that it has towards your brand and or company.

Do not wait for a crisis to happen to your company to start paying attention to social media. Starting to use social media early on can help provided a historical timeline on how people feel about your company.
