Week 11 How do you develop viewership

We live in a world of short attention spans. With that being said what can you do to try to keep your audience's attention? Well your brain is the main frame to any decision that you are going to make. Lets say that you want to buy a new car, a Tesla, after making that decision you  start seeing them everywhere, this is called priming. We also notice names that mean something to us. This also applies to things that contrast with each other.  Everyone has that curiosity of the unknown. Once we have understood and learned something new we go on the hunt for another unknown. This unknown factor is called novelty. To keep someone on your website you have to have novelty.

Pages that are more text heavy are usually boring for a reader. A reader can lose interest within second. If you really need that much text on your website try to add some images, change the background color, and play around with the layout of the columns to make the reader more engaged. Believe it or not when our brain sees a recurring pattern it ignore it. Try to avoid patterns.

Trying to appeal to someones emotions is the best way to go, everyone has them. The more emotion you put into your images the more people are going to pay attention. People remember the feeling they felt when seeing or doing something not so much the actual event.

Remember when i said people have short attention spans? Well believe it or not if someone is not presenting the material in an entertaining matter no amount of tricks are going to help you. By putting yourself in the customers shoes and asking whats in it for me you  might find different ways to make your material more interesting. The point being people do not pay attention to things that are boring, they like to be engaged.

Lets faces it no one reads everything on a website. Try to keep your content short, sweet and to the point. Having images on your page  helps the viewers interact with your page more. Last but not least have examples on your pages about the content that you are showcasing.
