Week 8 Tired of looking for a job?

There are 3 simple rules to follow when you are on the brinks of giving up on your job-hunting.

1. Never give up.
2. Never give up.
3. Never give up.

Everything is going to feel like it is out of your control, but you have to be willing to push through that. One has to be willing to try different tack-ticks and you have to be willing to work harder.

I am going to share with you a new strategy that i learned from reading the book What Color Is your Parachute. This new technique will require more of yourself than the traditional print your resume, turn it in, apply online and wait.

Lets start shall we? When asking yourself  What you are looking for the traditional way would answer a job but under technique called The Parachute Approach you would answer, a dream job were i can show off my special skills and knowledge. As a job seeker you have to be able to see yourself as a resource not so much as i need them more like they need me. The traditional approach would suggest that you have to figure out how to sell yourself before going job hunting. As you guessed it the parachute approach says find a job that you would die for before going job hunting.

How about the way you approach employers. Normally you would wait for them to post a vacancy before you make a move. The good thing is that we want to stay away from normal so instead we do our research, and organize "informal interviews" with companies although they are not publicly advertising vacancies.

How will you contact them? Your resume is a great thing to have to that employers can contact you, but how will you contact them? In a previous post i talked about using LinkedIn. Having this social media can help you find people that you have in common with an employer and BAM you have started a conversation with a potential employer by building a bridge-person.

There are many more tips that you can use in the book What Color Is Your Parachute including eleven best and worst traditional approaches for looking for a job.
